Motivations For Being on The Amazing Race
We've been receiving a lot of email from people who think this is a silly idea and chastise us because they think we want to be famous by being on a reality TV show. Clearly, these people did not watch our video or read much of what we've written.
The primary reason for wanting to be on the show is to win the money, and the primary motivation for winning the money is so we can afford to build our mother a wheelchair-accessible house. About ten years ago she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and her condition has deteriorated to the point where she can no longer walk. She went broke raising five kids after our father died when we were 12 years old and had to give up her home to the bank. She deserves to spend the rest of her life in a more comfortable home. Our dream is to win the money doing something we love (travel) for someone we love (our mom).
Damien and I have no interest at all in being famous or making a career out of it (we both already have solid, respectable careers). Being on a reality TV game show is simply an opportunity for us to make our mom's life better.

My mother has MS as well - kudos to the two of you.
I'm sure she's already well aware of it, but there's a drug out there called beta-interferon that really helped my mom out.

I wish the two of you well. My wife and I are TAR alumni (we raced on season 4). It is a wonderful experience, win or lose. I don't know if this strategy will work to get the two of you on the show. But, if it works, i'm sure you'll do well.
